2009 Sunol
Monday morning went for a hike with Colette. This time, we decided to venture a little further from home and take on what we’d hoped would be a little more demanding path which led us to Sunol. The Regional park is very easy to get to. From Castro Valley, Driving South on I-680, exit Calavares Road/Hwy 84, turn left onto Calaveras Road and proceed to Geary Road, which leads directly into the park. There are some wonderful nurseries which I believe are open to the public along the road into the park. There weren’t many people there which made for a more pleasant experience. Some dogs and what we believed to be Geology students or Artists. Not quite sure. Our hike lasted approx. 2 hours and was filled with some pretty easy trails. We were able to see some remarkable rock formations which caught our photographic eye and trees that were beautiful and varied. Recommend: water, snacks, camera, good walking shoes and sunscreen.
